Strategy

Policy Design

  • The design of political measures is a key ingredient in their success. We identify the measures that will lead to the desired goals at the lowest cost. We provide the Confederation, cantons and municipalities with support in the development and implementation of political measures.

Ex-post and Ex-ante Evaluations

  • Measuring the effects of political measures: We evaluate measures retrospectively or before the event. We adapt the evaluation methods used to the topic, the data available and the desired depth of focus. During the project implementation we adhere to the evaluation standards of the Swiss Evaluation Society SEVAL.
 

Assessments and Impact Analyses

  • Political measures change the economy, society and the environment: we analyse the effects of political measures using sustainability assessments, regulatory impact analyses or macroeconomic assessment.
 

Surveys

  • Surveys are an invaluable tool for finding out what a target audience thinks of a political measure or what its needs are. We create your paper-based and online surveys and evaluate and interpret the statistics.

Focus Groups

  • Many complex issues are best discussed in a personal conversation. We conduct interviews and focus group discussions to get to the root of matters ranging from technical issues to sensitive social subjects.

Statistical evaluations and econometric models

  • We analyze cross-sectional, panel or time series data in a targeted manner using the appropriate descriptive and econometric methods. Where necessary, we use machine learning methods such as Lasso or Random Forest. Another strength of ours is the comprehensible and target group-oriented presentation and explanation of results.
 

Dynamic and user-friendly visualization

  • A picture is worth a thousand words. By using modern visualization methods and tools such as PowerBI or QGIS, we present data in a way that is precise yet easy to understand. We also support our customers in setting up dynamic tools with which data can be automatically updated and independently analyzed.
 

Geodata and spatial analyses

  • 80% of all social phenomena have a geographical reference. Thanks to our expertise in analyzing geodata, these correlations are incorporated into our consulting and research activities. This gives our products greater depth, for example in the form of spatially differentiated statements, informative maps, or fact-based location analyses.

Microsimulation

  • We use microsimulation models to analyse social distribution effects and economic impacts on individual markets. The effects of political measures on several tens of thousands of people or households are also simulated. To do this we use two highly effective microsimulation models.
 

Regional and macroeconomic models

  • We use a wide range of models to analyze the effects of political measures on variables such as value creation or jobs. Our in-house i3R model offers the necessary flexibility for questions at the level of individual municipalities, cantons or regions. For macroeconomic analyses, we rely on various single and multi-country models.
