We are an economically and politically independent consultancy and research bureau with branches in Bern and Altdorf. Founded in 1988, Ecoplan is a public limited company that is wholly owned by its partners. Our success is measured by the satisfaction of our customers. The key to this lies both in the quality of our analysis and consultancy services and in our close working relationships with our customers. Ecoplan provides its services carbon neutral.

Sarah Hafner has been working at Ecoplan since January 2023 and has been Head of the business unit «Energy» since 2024. She completed her Master of Science in Economics at the University of Konstanz. In addition, she completed a Master's degree in System Dynamics at the University of Bergen (Norway). As part of her doctorate at the Global Sustainability Institute in Cambridge (UK), she investigated the economic effects of the UK energy transition as well as solutions to upscale green finance for energy infrastructure. In her previous role at the Federal Office for the Environment (Economics Section), she managed and coordinated various projects and activities in the fields of sustainable finance and the circular economy. Prior to that, she researched for example at the ZHAW School of Engineering, in the topic area of energy and economics (e.g. barriers/drivers for the industry decarbonisation, business model innovation for energy firms or energy-economy modelling).
